Claim to Fame: Florida's Busiest Airport
Orlando International Airport is the busiest airport in Florida and handles more than 37 million passengers and 363,000 flights every year. It's a popular destination for holidaymakers from the UK and is located in the centre of the Florida peninsula, just to the east of Tampa.
Orlando International Airport is one of the ten busiest airports in the U.S. and the 20th busiest airport by passenger numbers in the world. It serves 79 U.S. destinations and 16 international destinations - including London, Manchester and Glasgow. The majority of the airport's flights with scheduled airlines and its four runways provide it with the ability to handle 140 landings and take-offs every hours.
Comprehensive terminal facilities are available at Orlando's large landside terminal. Shopping, eating and car rental are all in or close to the terminal and most of the major car hire companies maintain offices at Orlando airport. The airport also has a number of large hotels nearby.
The airport itself is located around nine miles south-east of Orlando and can be accessed from the SR436 or SR528 roads. You can find driving directions to a variety of popular destinations (including Sea World, Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World) on the Orlando Airport website.
