Satellite navigation, sat nav or GPS – whatever you call it, it’s an increasingly popular optional extra with rental car customers.

Sat nav hire is usually charged by the day and rarely discounted – perhaps because GPS units are still quite expensive and easily breakable.

Avis have decided to buck the trend however and are now offering a free day of sat nav hire for all weekly rentals until the 31st December, 2008.
